Then, visit the vineyards on vintage horse-drawn carriages, the cellar, wine-making process and wine tasting by the wine vat,. Visit the wine store and Emporium ,then we will go for its restaurant where the path of tradition, innovation, excellence and the distinguishing style of cooking is well known in the region in the winery Viu Mannent. After lunch some time to walk around the town of Santa Cruz, a typical town where the country people like to meet (At the Main Square) ,then we will continue our journey to the best sub-valley of Colchagua ,from there come the best premium wines of Chile “Apalta Valley” to visit our last winery Viña Montes, their property the “La Finca de Apalta” is located in the middle of the renowned Apalta Valley. In this isolated area, The River Tinguiririca becomes a natural barrier. On the northern end, an elevated mountain range filters the soft ocean breeze, a key factor of the weather quality in Apalta. This area is set in a semicircle with steep 45º slopes, with plantations slanting south allowing for a soft exposure angle to the sun. On the gradient, temperatures decrease, which play a role on the slow yet full grape maturity. This property produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Carmenère, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Mouvedre.

The soils are characterized by a significant presence of granodioritic rock that has a very low capacity for retaining water, which makes the hillsides the ideal place to grow grapes. In general the Apalta climate is more temperate than the rest of the Colchagua Valley due to the Pacific breezes that enter and remain in the valley. The considerable temperature difference between the hillsides and flat sections allows for slow and full ripening processes for the grapes. The rigorous management plan that we use in our vineyards throughout the year allows us to obtain the highest quality grapes. Expert hands dedicate a great deal of time and care to each sector of the vineyards in order to achieve optimum quality grapes beginning in March of every year. The final product is 100% hand picked.
Viña Montes invites you to leave the world behind and experience a unique and unforgettable tour through vegetation that is typical of central Chile on a nature path complete with panoramic vistas. While out in the vineyards you can enjoy a view of the steep hillsides (with a more than 45-degree incline) and natural environment that is representative of central Chile where they produce the best grapes for our Montes Alpha M, Montes Folly and Purple Angel wines. Inside the “bodega” you can observe the gravitational system that they use to move the wines, their tours offer an opportunity to learn more about terroir by tasting a fine selection of their wines and visiting the winery and vineyards. The we end up at Clos De Apalta ,This revolutionary winery is solely dedicated to the production of Casa Lapostolle’s world-class icon wine, Clos Apaltais 100% gravity-fed spanning five levels, three of which are buried into the granite of the Apalta hillside to provide a natural cool temperature environment for cellaring and ageing. This rare vertical design allows the wine to flow naturally downward during every stage of the production, eliminating the need to pump, which can adversely affect the subtle flavors of the wine.Grapes are hand-harvested and brought to the highest level of the winery where they will be 100% hand-destemmed, a labor intensive technique performed by only very few wineries throughout the world. Fermentation takes place in 21 small French wooden vats which size corresponds to a parcel of our Apalta vineyard. Thus we can enhance the personality of each of our terroir plots. Throughout our facilities you will see how gravity plays an important role to gently create our Clos Apalta wine. You will admire a wonderful setting in which wine industry blends perfectly with design. The tour will take a bit more than an hour, and you will be introduced into the winemaking world; finishing with a tasting of Casa Lapostolle wines, which will be longing to be a part of your experience.

DAY 3: COLCHAGUA VALLEY

Los Vascos, Mont Gras and Neyen wineries

We will star visiting the winery Los Vascos , On 8 August 1868, Baron James de Rothschild purchased Château Lafite, which was under public sale as part of the Ignace-Joseph Vanlerberghe succession . Just 3 months after the purchase, Baron James passed away, and Lafite became the joint property of his three sons. Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) have always made excellent winemaking and savoir-vivre an integral part of their legacy. Several generations of exceptional individuals have, over the centuries, worked toward a high principle: discovering soils with strong potential, and then producing the finest product possible.
This philosophy is based on two principals shared by all the DBR teams:
• Humbleness in learning: it takes time to make the soil excellent. Fine wines are the fruit of years of toil
• High quality standards: the meticulous respect of quality by using best practices, and the constant desire to improve these practices.
We will tour and wine taste their wines and then we will continue to Viña Mont Gras that is located in Colchagua, sub valley of the Rapel Valley, in the Central Region of Chile, 192 km. (120 miles) south west of Santiago .The beautifully neat vineyards of Mont Gras started their first project in 1993, in the locality of Palmilla, Colchagua, VI Region of Chile. This winery represents the concrete testimony of the development and the desire to do things right like state-of-the-art technology in all its processes, set out from its conception to be the winery with the best premium wine from Chile. It is no accident then, the great amount of international prizes that have recognized the professional work, the constant quality like handling the grapes with great care and a minimal amount of movement to ensure the production of high quality wines.
Like the Top rated and best value of New York times says “…Our favorite bottle also happened to be Viña MontGrasReserva, a fresh, lively wine with balanced, lingering flavors of ripe plums, flowers and spices.
There we learn the process and will mix, cork and label your own wine, After lunch some time to walk around the town of Santa Cruz, a typical town where the country people like to meet (At the Main Square), then we will continue our journey to the boutique winery Neyen, The Neyen de Apalta winery is the perfect blend of tradition and modernity. In the native Mapudungun language, Neyen means “spirit ”, it is the spirit of Apalta that it is captures in each vintage.
The Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon vines were planted in 1890 now they produce excellent fruit due to their deep roots and natural balance, allowing them to reap the benefits that come with the richness and elegance of the passage of time. In the tour they will allow you to appreciate their hundred-year-old grapevines dating back to late nineteenth century, as well as both, its modern vinification winery, and the historical cellar ending with a wine tasting of its icon wine Neyen.

It was founded in the year 2000 by Maria Luz Marín, winemaker and entrepreneur, whose goal of providing innovation to the local wine industry is being accomplished by her focus on premium wines which are a reality with the new “terroir.”
It has been described as one of the “most daring and innovative” vineyards in the country. Surrounded by the steep hills of the Chilean coastal mountains, the unique microclimate and wide variety of soils found here give birth to a “terroir” recently discovered for the viticulture of fine wines. The first 25 hectares were planted with Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Gewürztraminer, and Riesling.
Chilean and British winemakers comprise a dedicated team who has contributed their know-how to the production of truly outstanding wines.
