Los Vascos, Mont Gras and Neyen wineries

We will star visiting the winery Los Vascos, On 8 August 1868, Baron James de Rothschild purchased Château Lafite, which was under public sale as part of the Ignace-Joseph Vanlerberghe succession . Just 3 months after the purchase, Baron James passed away, and Lafite became the joint property of his three sons. Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) have always made excellent winemaking and savoir-vivre an integral part of their legacy. Several generations of exceptional individuals have, over the centuries, worked toward a high principle: discovering soils with strong potential, and then producing the finest product possible.
This philosophy is based on two principals shared by all the DBR teams:
• Humbleness in learning: it takes time to make the soil excellent. Fine wines are the fruit of years of toil
• High quality standards: the meticulous respect of quality by using best practices, and the constant desire to improve these practices.

We will tour and wine taste their wines and then we will continue to Viña Mont Gras that is located in Colchagua, sub valley of the Rapel Valley, in the Central Region of Chile, 192 km. (120 miles) south west of Santiago .The beautifully neat vineyards of Mont Gras started their first project in 1993, in the locality of Palmilla, Colchagua, VI Region of Chile. This winery represents the concrete testimony of the development and the desire to do things right like state-of-the-art technology in all its processes, set out from its conception to be the winery with the best premium wine from Chile. It is no accident then, the great amount of international prizes that have recognized the professional work, the constant quality like handling the grapes with great care and a minimal amount of movement to ensure the production of high quality wines.
Like the Top rated and best value of New York times says “…Our favorite bottle also happened to be Viña Mont Gras Reserva, a fresh, lively wine with balanced, lingering flavors of ripe plums, flowers and spices.
There ,we will learn the process and drink their wines, After lunch some time to walk around the town of Santa Cruz, a typical town where the country people like to meet (At the Main Square), then we will continue our journey to the boutique winery Neyen, The Neyen de Apalta winery is the perfect blend of tradition and modernity. In the native Mapudungun language, Neyen means “spirit ”, it is the spirit of Apalta that it is captures in each vintage.
The Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon vines were planted in 1890 now they produce excellent fruit due to their deep roots and natural balance, allowing them to reap the benefits that come with the richness and elegance of the passage of time. In the tour they will allow you to appreciate their hundred-year-old grapevines dating back to late nineteenth century, as well as both, its modern vinification winery, and the historical cellar ending with a wine tasting of its icon wine Neyen.
